Hanes Cymru does not collect your personal data. This page explains what information is involved when you use the app, and the terms that govern its use.
What personal information do we collect?
Hanes Cymru does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information. All settings, favourites, and personal timeline entries are stored locally on your device only.
What permissions does the app require?
When you use the Hanes Cymru app, the app requires the following device permissions:
- Internet access: Required to fetch timeline data and articles from the Hanes Cymru API, load images from Wikipedia, display the premium map, and process purchases through Google Play.
- Billing: This is required by Google Play to process in-app purchases for the premium unlock.
The app does not require access to your camera, microphone, contacts, location, files, or any other device features.
What external services does the app connect to?
During normal use, the app connects to the following external services:
- Hanes Cymru API (hanes.cymru): Timeline data, menu structure, and article content are fetched from our API. No personal information is sent with these requests.
- Wikipedia / Wikimedia Commons: Article images are loaded directly from Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons. These requests are subject to the Wikimedia Foundation's privacy policy (opens in new tab).
- OpenStreetMap: The premium map feature loads map tiles from OpenStreetMap (opens in new tab). These requests are subject to the OpenStreetMap Foundation's privacy policy (opens in new tab).
- Google Fonts: The app loads fonts from Google's servers, which may involve a standard network request. Google's privacy policy (opens in new tab) applies to that request.
How are in-app purchases managed?
We use a third-party service called RevenueCat to manage in-app purchases and to verify premium entitlements. When you make a purchase, RevenueCat may process the following information:
- An anonymous device identifier
- Your purchase and transaction history
- App version and platform information
This information is used solely for the purpose of processing and verifying your purchase. We do not use RevenueCat for analytics, advertising, or profiling of any kind. You can read RevenueCat's own privacy policy at revenuecat.com/privacy (opens in new tab).
Do we share your information?
We do not sell, trade, or share any user information with third parties. The only external processing that takes place is through RevenueCat as described above, and this is strictly for the purpose of managing purchases.
Your rights
You have the right to delete all of your app data at any time. Since all user data - including settings, favourites, and personal history entries - is stored locally on your device, you can remove it by clearing the app data or by uninstalling the app.
If you have made a purchase and wish to request deletion of your RevenueCat purchase record, you can do so from within the app's Settings page.
Children
Hanes Cymru is an educational app suitable for all ages. The app does not knowingly collect any personal information from children or any other users.

Use of the app
Hanes Cymru is provided for personal, non-commercial, educational use.
In-app purchases
Hanes Cymru offers a one-time premium unlock that provides access to the full timeline, search, favourites, personal history, map view, and all articles. Purchases are processed through the Google Play Store and are subject to Google's terms. Refund requests should be directed to Google Play.
Content
The historical content in Hanes Cymru is derived from Wikipedia and served through the Hanes Cymru API. Images are sourced from Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons. All Wikipedia-derived content and images remain subject to their respective licences. While we endeavour to ensure accuracy, we cannot guarantee the completeness or accuracy of any historical information presented.
Intellectual property
All app design, branding, and original content are the property of Hanes Cymru. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from the app or its content without prior permission.
Availability
We aim to keep the app available and up to date, but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access or that features won't change.
Limitation of liability
Hanes Cymru is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. Hanes Cymru shall not be liable for any damages arising from your use of the app.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy notice and terms of use from time to time. Any changes will be published on this page with an updated date.
